Athabasca Delta
The Peace Athabsca Delta lies in Northern Alberta near the Northwest Territories in Canada. It is the world's largest freshwater delta and the only which lies at the crossroads of all four of North America's migratory flyways. It is a critical migratory stop over and nesting area for almost hald the bird species found in North America. Its ecological integrity is threatened (primarily) by maga-dams on the Peace River as well as by the Alberta Oil Sands which both sides of the Athabasca River and are just upstream from the delta.
